It's that time of year, um, decade, um, ... time for the quadrannual (quadrennial???) event known as the Olympics.
I wanted to watch the opening ceremonies last night, but only caught the end. It was pretty cool seeing the gigantic Yao Ming carry China's flag with the little kid.
My wife was commenting on the outfits like Joan and Melissa Rivers do for the Oscars.
One of my daughter's quotes from last night: "It's good to know the terrorists are good at shooting." (several of the middle Eastern country flag bearers were in the shooting events)
One of the women soccer players this morning was R Kum Suk. I had to chuckle like Butthead when I saw that. (sorry for offending anyone)
I'm really looking forward to watching the BMX racing. The track they have for that is KILLER!

BMX is the 20th and 21st. Either my browser is blocking it, or I'm just stupid, but I can't find anything for any of the track bike racing. Any help?
EDIT: Found the complete schedule. NBCOlympics.com wasn't showing everything for me, but I found it for anyone else that wants to know.

For me, it has results from days 1, 2, and 5 (collapsed), and the schedule for days 12 through 15 (expanded showing the times and events for BMX and MTB). Does it show info in between those days for the track cycling events? It's this way for me with both Firefox and IE.

Holy Crap - they just showed the 100 meters won by the Jamaican. World record, and he was celebrating 15 meters before the finish line. That was incredible. I got to watch some of the track cycling today. The Keiren was really cool to watch. If you don't get Bicycling magazine, here's a great article on the BMX racers. http://www.bicycling.com/article/0,6610,s1-3-12-17686-1,00.html Here's an interesting piece from it: "A few years ago, USA Cycling tried to recruit elite BMXers to race on the track--for good reason: A top BMXer puts out close to 2,000 watts in those first few violent pedal strokes, and by the time he hits the bottom of the ramp, he's going close to 40 mph and spinning at a Road-Runneresque 200-plus rpm." |

http://www.nbcolympics.com/tv_and_online_listings/zone=ET/day=11/sport=CY/tv.html BMX live in Prime Time tonight. 10pm to midnight. I'm currently online watching the individual sprints and team pursuit from a couple days ago. |

"Eight moments to remember" on NBC's site ... BMX is #3 behind Phelps and Bolt (his 100m sprint still blows my mind): http://www.nbcolympics.com/newscenter/news/newsid=253659.html#great+moments+remember |
