So, looking at the start list, Asstana is on there. I thought they were banned from the grand tours? Ugh, I cant keep up with all the roadie soap-opera crap. Well, regardless, I hope Levi doesnt crash or anything so he has no excuse for failing to deliver in yet another grand tour and we can just settle on the fact that he is a slightly above average euro road pro, thats all.

I dunno what team Levi is on but all I know is I will be pulling for slipstream regardless. 1.the stance they are taking on doping 2. they ride Felt 3. those team kits are to die for.

The only American roadie I can't stand more than Levi is Tom Danielson (Slipstream). He is another that is all "Talked Up" and can't deliver. He isn't listed on the start list. Great! We don't have to hear about how is a contender for the GC, just to see him fail miserably.
I would like to see Zabriskie(Slipstream) do well He doesn't take himself so serious.

I could get behind DZ.

I got nothin against Danielson, he just hasn't seem to ever develop into what they hoped. But Levi has had many chances with teams working for him and can only manage a podium when the real contenders get kicked out (call it 98 Julich syndrome). Yet every year for the past ??, they talk him up like he's gonna do something. I think Stephen Roche has a better shot at repeating this year than Levi has at even taking a stage. Let Levi ride? Ride off into the sunset, melon head.

" '98 Julich Syndrome," "melon head" hahahah

who is that other kid they talk about a lot Christian Vandevelde or summin? I guess it is just better for American interest in cycling when we can believe that one of our countrymen has a shot. While were talking about nationalism in the sport of cycling, lets stop scoffing at French cyclists, sure they haven't had a tour winner in a while but have you seen what Julien Absalon can do? Apparently they have been trying to get him to switch to road biking but he says he wants to prove the that mtb'ing is a legitimate sport. I wonder if stricter doping control in road racing has anything to do with him sticking with mtb'ing? Is road racing more strictly controlled? I just assumed so.

I dont think it is. Prolly a bigger spotlight on it now. And when an mtber is caught, it is (maybe) a brief paragraph in Velonews versus the 15 page expose (Ulrich had a big crap this morning–a full in-depth analysis of what it may or may not contain) for 3 weeks they do on the roadies.

Speaking of Tom Danielson, (on a side note).  I was on Pez Cycling News site and under Daily Distraction they had a photo of Tommy D's girlfriend,  HUMM!  He was married to Kristin Danielson.  He must have got a divorce or he could have a girlfriend along with a wife..   Maybe Kristin didn't know and some bonehead photographer got him busted.
checkout 3rd phot in top row.   http://www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=dds/dds08/distractions-may08 and the old wife.  http://www.pbase.com/sdukes/kristin_danielson  Checkout the comment on the bottom of Kristins page.   DOH!
