Just came back from the Capital View race. I would like to thank Hope and all the volunteers who worked hard to make Cap View XC a great event.  I'm sure the kids at the YMCA will appreciate their hard work too.  I will have results posted as soon as I receive them.

Great race, the coarse was well laid out. Thanks also to everyone who held the event! What happened to G-Man?

Beef jerky handoff:

2 Flats + 1 Tube = DNF

I very much enjoyed the pre-race camaraderie; I can't believe Vega turned down the Doritos and beef jerky @ the 1/2 way point; what was he thinking?

Koolaid, I was right behind you when I got my first flat; lucky you! looks as though I may take the plunge and go tubeless.

David Ponder, How did you do? I was chasin you too!

Does anyone have any thoughts on tubeless tires vs. torns? Are they as susceptible to flats as tubed tires?

See you all @ the next event...

BTW...there was an ambulance and firetruck arriving as I was loading up my bike...hope no was hurt too serious.

if you run some stan's or slime like product inside your tubeless tires than they are better than tubed tires cause you can pull the thorn out and the latex inside will seal up the whole.

The ambulance was sent for someone I did'nt know. Looked like he had a shoulder injury. Maybe not too bad (hopefully), the emts looked him over and then took his tshirt off over his head. (When they start cutting off the shirt, that's a bad sign.)
I dunno about the fire truck, maybe Shane called his buds at the local station.

I was even worse than I expected.

Ain't racing a blast.

The new bike ran out really well. Now I need a tire change, and some riser bars before I race it again. Good first real ride though!

Thank God you were racing and not sitting around bitching about the Republicans.

G-man I ride on thorny trails all the time with tubes without any problems. There's saw briars everywhere on this trail at Cave Run, but like I said I don't usually have problems unless my tires so thin they get punctured easily. The tires I run are fire xc pros. I've never used tubeless, but they're praised for their flat resistance.

Good times at the race yesterday. Well done, looks like the KYMBA series is really taking off!
I love tubeless tires, not only do you get improved flat resistance, you also get better grip and smoother ride with lower psi.

A Little slim in tubes works perfectly. Very simple, effective and less mess than tubeless.

See everyone at Duffield my lower back is getting better daily so I think I'll be ready to tackle Tuffield.

Good to see there are more of "us" out there. :)

The results are in. I just finished posting the results for the Cap View Race. Now keep in mind this was Hope's first time at putting on an XC race. All her work was volunteered and all the proceeds went to needy kids at the YMCA. There may be some glitches I may have missed while combing through the results. If you see a problem with your result please email the site and I will take care of it. "note the 2 Calistoga kids were registered in the wrong age group. they should have raced the jr. expert cat. I will see the series points reflect this. Also I will deal with these lil wippersnappers myself.

That was a BLAST!!! Another one of my 40th birthday goals is now complete!

Does anyone know who the guy was down in the woods between the first section and the creek? He got a picture of me while I was still holding on to first place and I'd like to get a copy.

Thanks to everyone who had a hand in putting this together! I'll definitely try another.
