So tonight Stephanie and I went to ride Cherokee. Half way into the ride my front rotor was squeaking like an evil chipmunk. So I stopped to give it a bit o' the chuck norris grip and, faith and begorrah, I wound up pushing some air into my line. So I'm riding the rest of cherokee with 1/2 a front brake. Now many of you might think "pshaw, who cares about missing a break?" well, moi does. I am a big lover of the front brake. Slamming on the back break does one thing - helps you lose control and tears up the trails.
But let me be the first to tell you...when you have no suspension and no front brake, life gets a wee scary. But did I choose to slow it down. Heck no. I just changed my left grip so I could pull that front lever all the way to the bar and managed to get a teeny, tiny bit o' action from those front calipers.
Naturally my bike is on my stand waiting for me to re-bleed the martas. Those brakes have been FAN-FLIPPIN-TASTIC so far so I am not going to gripe at all. That was user error fo sho.
It was still a fun ride. Got to hear Rusty tell me my hot mountain bike chick was on her way. That's always good to hear. Yeah, my wife is hot and she rides a mountain bike.
And now she thinks she wants a single speed.
