lately i have been dealing with a wonky set of race face deuce cranks. it started with a spacer/washer/seal that had worn out. basically the "nylon" coating had worn off the drive size seal which caused the drive side arm to wiggle unless the cap was torqued down. well, that's not the purpose of the cap so this wouldn't do. so i ordered a set of new seals and put them on. but that only marginally fixed the problem. well eventually i figured out that a small 1mm compression washer on the non-drive side would do the trick. only problem is that it creates a bit of resistence in the cranks. but this is better than the wiggle. my only fear is that the resistence might wear out the bearings in the bottom bracket. if this happens i'll probably switch cranks. if i switch cranks i might look at the truvativ noir. of course that's a costly investment at around 450.00 bucks (isn't that how much my frame/fork cost?) the new version of the truvativ stylo is pretty smooth though. we'll see what happens.

until then, i'll keep rocking the deuce.
