Team Louisville announced today a new partnership with BikeClicks.com as their title sponsor for the remainder of the 2008 and the upcoming 2009 racing season. This new title sponsorship will allow Team Louisville, already the largest developmental team in the area, to run a competitive men’s Category 3 / 4 squad next season, deliver a competetive racing package to its riders and an valuable advertising/promotion package to its sponsors. “Team Louisville has been developing talented riders and turning them into winning racers for years” said Mark Luking, VP of Racing for the Louisville Bicycle Club. “While, we’ve always had a huge presence in the local cycling scene, through racing, at our events and the bicycling club, but until now we were limited when it came to retaining talented racers at the upper levels of regional racing. This partnership can attract the sponsors necessary to run a competitive regional racing squad and deliver a quality sports marketing package to local businesses.”
This partnership provides sponsors with not only a highly visible racing team, but through BikeClicks.com a companion advertising program that reaches the cycling community on a daily basis online. “Cycling is a community oriented sport” said Steven Webster, WebGuy for BikeClicks.com. “BikeClicks.com connects riders through our website and makes it easy for people to share information, plan rides, find out about races, tours and events, etc. Connecting with Team Louisville means we can increase the visibility of BikeClicks.com in the region and help the team's sponsors connect with the local and regional cycling community.” Webster added “Team Louisville’s community presence combined with BikeClicks.com provides sponsors with the best deal in town to reach the cycling demographic.”
Qualifying team members will benefit from a sponsorship package that is competitive with other local teams and the team will benefit by keeping racers together longer. “This package allows us to keep the talent we develop” said Luking. “As racers are ready to move up from the developmental 4 / 5 squad they will have a place to go within the team and can benefit from racing with the same guys they’ve been racing with for years.” Webster added “we hope to grow the program in the coming years beyond the initial men’s road racing squad allowing us to add sponsorships for cyclocross, mountain bike and a women’s road racing program in the future.”
“We could not have found a better group of people to partner with on this” continued Webster. “As a racer for Team Louisville this year I’ve come to respect and become friends with many members of the team. It’s a great group of people who simply love bicycle racing. It was just a natural fit for us to help each other out. I just hope I can qualify for the new BikeClicks/Team Louisville squad!”
“No comment” said Luking.
The new team will be called BikeClicks/Team Louisville and will race in new kit that reflects the direction of the team and its sponsors.
